The public are being given the chance to vote on a name for one of the Tower of London’s new baby ravens. The names people can choose from are Branwen, Brontë, Florence, Matilda and Winifred.
Legend has it that the kingdom and the Tower of London will fall if its resident ravens ever leave, so at least six are kept there at all times. Until recently there were seven. In March, a breeding pair called Huginn and Muninn produced four chicks, two of which will stay at the Tower.
The male chick has been named Edgar, after the author Edgar Allan Poe, who wrote a famous poem about a raven in 1845. The Tower’s ravenmaster, Chris Skaife, is giving the public a chance to name the female chick. His shortlist…
