Eric Stonestreet is one of the most recognisable faces in US comedy, but for his younger fans, it’s his voice that will be familiar. Homework, although often interesting, can be a painful experience, but that doesn’t mean it should be harming the environment too, and there are plenty of ways to make sure it doesn’t. Store up old, used envelopes and other scrap pieces of paper and use them instead of new paper when you are solving problems that require a bit of extra writing space. Use each piece of paper fully too; don’t just scribble a few notes and then start a new sheet. The Kid Prime Video, DVD The very first film that was directed by silent film star, Charlie Chaplin, had him playing his famous Little Tramp character. The film is considered one of the best of cinema’s early years. Isn’t Dina Asher-Smith remarkable? I’m a huge fan of athletics in general, particularly sprinting. The speed, agility and sheer power on display for just a few breathtaking seconds is always extraordinary to watch. A memorial service at Ely Cathedral, in Cambridgeshire, has honoured a cat called Garfield, which became famous online for hanging around the local Sainsbury’s supermarket. More than 7,000 people from around the world followed the cat’s adventures on Facebook before it died in July. Where do you start? First you need a good idea. It could be about someone your class is currently studying – for example, Anne Frank or Marie Curie – or it could be based on a subject you are passionate about outside of school. On 1 October, tens of thousands of protesters took to the streets of Hong Kong to protest against the Chinese government. The protests turned violent, and one campaigner was shot. He is now recovering in hospital. The demonstrations took place on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China – a major celebration for the country. Hong Kong is a semi-autonomous region of China, which means it is part of China but has control over some of its own rules and has a separate political and legal system. Teague Stubbington Curator of mammals, ZSL London Research shows that some animals, including chimpanzees, dogs and even rats, can make sounds in response to pleasure, like the way humans laugh. The gorillas at ZSL London Zoo also make noises like human chuckles when playing, tickling or wrestling. A robot called Atlas has shown off its gymnastics skills in a new video. Atlas is made by a robotics company from Massachusetts in the US called Boston Dynamics, which calls Atlas “the world’s most dynamic humanoid robot”. Humanoid means it looks like a human being. Atlas walks on two legs, stands 1.5 metres tall and weighs 80 kilograms. When the robot was first shown to the public in 2013, it could barely walk. Over the past six years, it has been developed to balance on one leg, run in the snow and even complete an obstacle course, but its latest achievement might be its most impressive yet. She finished the 93.2 miles race in four hours, six minutes and five seconds. How do you think new inventions could change the world today? It’s really difficult to forecast such things. When I was a teenager, I remember reading a sci-fi book that was maybe 30 years old. Making friends is important, especially when you’re young. It can be difficult, particularly when doing something like starting a new school, but there are some ways to get around this. It’s better to focus on those with whom you have similar interests. If you like a sport or have any other hobbies, sign up for clubs or groups that do these things. Conservative politician inspires onion display A vegetable display inspired by a Member of Parliament, Jacob Rees Mogg, finished in second place in a competition at the Newent Onion Show in Gloucestershire. The event aims to improve the public’s knowledge of chives, garlic, leeks and spring onions. The display, which was called Jacob Leeks Mogg, used leeks and onions to recreate the moment when the Conservative politician lay down on the benches of the House of Commons during a recent debate. First place was awarded to a pair of tortoises and snails made from red onions and spring onions.
