To launch a new campaign, which environmental organisation Greenpeace hopes will lead to the creation of the world’s biggest wildlife sanctuary, model penguins have been placed at some of the planet’s most famous landmarks.
Penguins are the best-known animals in Antarctica – chinstraps, gentoos, macaronis, rockhoppers, Adélies, kings and emperor penguins can all be found in the icy continent. These birds, as well as many other Antarctic animals, are increasingly under threat from pollution, overfishing of their food stock and the planet’s changing climate.
