You’ve probably heard of the Olympic Games, the famous international sporting event that’s held every four years. But have you heard of the Island Games? It’s an event held every two years for athletes from islands all over the world with populations of less than 125,000.
From 24 to 30 June, the 2017 Island Games were held in Gotland, a Swedish island in the Baltic Sea. There were 2,339 competitors from 23 islands taking part in archery, athletics, badminton, basketball, volleyball, beach volleyball, cycling, football, golf, gymnastics, shooting, swimming, table tennis, tennis and triathlon.
