DARIO TUBIANA has a passion for Fair Isle yoked garments, and his latest design is a joyously colourful cardigan. The body and sleeves are knitted in the round, then joined to work the yoke. The pattern incorporates a column of steek stitches which are cut open; Dario uses the crochet method to reinforce the steek. An applied i-cord is worked on to the edges, to give a neat finish. The cardigan is fastened at the neck with a single button and a crochet button loop. CERAMICIST EMILY Cross is well known for her beautiful, functional yarn bowls, and if you’ve been to a wool festival this year, the chances are you’ll have seen her stand filled with her unique and gorgeous creations. IN 2018, Milli Abrams made the exciting decision to leave a lucrative but relatively safe career in accounting to pursue her dream career in the craft world. BASED IN rural Somerset, designer Amanda Jones has been working with The Knitter for many years, and we’re delighted to have her latest pattern on the front cover of this issue. After completing a degree in fashion and textiles, where she specialised in knitting, Amanda began designing knitwear patterns for yarn companies and magazines in the mid-1980s. Her work is characterised by her love of stitch textures, and she enjoys using intricate cables, delicate lace, and brioche stitch in her work. THE NORTH American yarn brand, Kelbourne Woolens, has built up an impressive portfolio of knitwear designs in recent years. It specialises in classic, wearable knits with a modern twist and sophisticated details. Kelbourne Woolens was founded by established designers Courtney Kelley and Kate Gagnon Osborn, and they have built a team around them filled with creative, exciting talent. One team member is Meghan Kelly, who designed the ‘Florin’ sweater to showcase the brand’s Scout yarn. Meghan works at Kelbourne as office manager, but she also designs for the brand, and was instrumental in developing one of its newest yarns, the cotton-linen Mojave.
