As I write this ‘Trains of Thought’ on 30 December 2022, for the February issue of Steam Days, another year fast approaches. Being 89 years of age in January 2023, my memories flood back to those 80 years as a railway enthusiast from 1942. Over the years, hours have been spent on stations, around engine sheds, and by the lineside – memories of days that I shall never forget.
