South African Navy commander Vice-Admiral Monde Lobese has warned that the country is at risk of being attacked from the sea because it is short of patrol vessels. Lobese was speaking at the welcoming ceremony of a new vessel named after King Shaka Zulu in Durban on Friday. IT WAS no storm in a teacup when employees of a car dealership lost their tea and coffee privileges at work. The Motor Industry Staff Association (Misa) stepped up and came to the rescue of employees whose dealer principal took away their privilege. They were expected to pay for the beverages in future. Martlé Keyter, Misa’s CEO of operations, said the union enquired about the status quo after receiving a complaint from a member in distress. Two women who were married to the same man are recognised as the deceased’s legal widows and, if they so want, can have both of their marriages registered, according to a ruling by the Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg. The ruling comes after Mpho Molokane approached the court to have Rosy Williams’ marriage to her husband declared invalid. Molokane and Williams were both married to Alfred Mohlale. The Hawks have made a breakthrough after arresting a man believed to be responsible for the murder of former politician Loyiso Nkohla Mabandla. He was killed on April 17 as he attended a meeting at the Philippi Station in Cape Town about railway squatters. Two other people were shot and wounded, one of them a pregnant woman from Heinz Park. Police at Phalaborwa, in Limpopo, have launched an extensive search for a man who allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl in the community.
