Itumeleng Mafisa SECURITY around the Cape Town City Hall is expected to be tightened ahead of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s State Of the Nation Address (Sona) tomorrow.
The country’s National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (Natjoints), which comprises various government departments including the SAPS, the SA National Defence Force (SANDF) and the State Security Agency (SSA), announced the strengthening of security measures yesterday.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the security team, Athlenda Mathe, said security forces had been deployed and were on high alert to ensure that the address takes place in a secure environment, with no incidents of crime before, during and after the event.
“The Natjoints is calling for the co-operation of the public, including those who will be in attendance as well as spectators,” Mathe said.
