RENOWNED as the most beautiful botanical garden in Africa, Kirstenbosch will be the backdrop to the most expansive exhibition to date of contemporary artworks created with augmented reality (AR) technology.
The exhibition, titled Seeing the Invisible, will premiere at the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden in September, as one of 12 participating gardens across six countries.
Seeing the Invisible features works by 13 international artists such as Ai Weiwei, Refik Anadol, Isaac Julien CBE, Mohammed Kazem, Sigalit Landau, Sarah Meyohas, Pamela Rosenkranz, and Timur Si-Qin, and includes several artists’ first work in AR.
Among the artists is El Anatsui, a Ghanaian sculptor,one of the most acclaimed artists in African history, and among the foremost contemporary artists in the world.
