MAGNIFICATION Magnification is the optical BANG factor and is the number of times a target image is multiplied in size by an optic. By increasing the size of the target viewed through a clear optic, the shooter can take more precise aim and confirm the target . The downside to high magnification in a hunting or target optic is that while the image is magnified, so is the perceived shake of the user. In riflescope terminology, the first figure(s) quoted are the magnification range or fixed magnification of the optic.
