CLOSURE FOR VICTIM AND FAMILY Shallcross men plead guilty to attempted murder of engineer
NADIA KHAN nadia.khan@inl.co.za TWO men accused of housebreaking and attempted murder pleaded guilty in the Durban Regional Court on Thursday.
Nashlin Krishin, 24, of Zoutpansberg Walk, and Kasan Naidoo, 41, of Table Mountain Street, both of Shallcross, were charged for malicious injury to property, housebreaking with intent to commit an assault, and attempted murder, in February 2017. Naidoo is the son-in-law of an alleged drug kingpin, the late Yaganathan “Teddy Mafia” Pillay.
The charges against four others – Mervlin Chunder, Ricardo Pillay, Kayden Govender and Nelson Gounden – were withdrawn on Thursday. Another accused, Devendren Pillay, the son of Yaganathan Pillay, was killed in a drive-by shooting last year.
