Congregations are often propelled into the spotlight after something terrible happens – and this couldn’t be more true for The Saints.
The church faction from Toowoomba, QLD, are currently on trial, accused of causing the death of eightyear-old Elizabeth Struhs.
Elizabeth tragically died on January 7, 2022 from diabetic ketoacidosis. The young girl suffered from type 1 diabetes and the Crown allege she passed away as a result of her prescribed insulin shots being withheld.
Elizabeth’s father, Jason Richard Struhs, 53, along with The Saints’ leader, Brendan Luke Stevens, 62, were both charged with her murder.
Her mother, Kerrie Elizabeth Struhs, 49, was charged with manslaughter, as were the 11 other members.
