Fade to black and white
As any parent can attest, the magic of childhood opens up a wonderful panorama of colours and relived experiences. Life seems much brighter, like someone has bumped up the contrast. For the children themselves, this disparity and curiosity is, somewhat ironically, almost always neatly classified into black and white boxes. Good is good, bad is bad and heroes and villains – from storybooks, movies and life itself – have their defined place. It’s simpler that way.
