The region has over 700 islands, with endless reefs, islets, cays and deserted beaches. Somewhere, in all of this natural beauty and unpeopled goodness, there had to be a spot where I could find absolute aloneness. I, the millennial, or stepchild of the modern age, was banking on the Caribbean to help me in my quest to be alone, to switch off and escape a world that’s always on.
The name, “karr- e -bee- en”, with the primary accent on the third syllable, somehow says everything, with imagery of soft sand, swaying palm trees and that unmistakable smell of coconut oil.
