Yamaha have unveiled a new version of their electric trials bike concept – the TY-E 2.0. Unlike the original TY-E electric trials bike from 2018, which was a concept, the 2.0 upgrade is a prototype and Yamaha plan to enter it in selected rounds of the 2022 FIM Trial World Championship (TWC). This year, rather than competing in the separate TrialE Cup, electric trials bikes like this one will go head-to-head against conventional two- and four-stroke machines in the TWC for the first time. Motorcycling Australia have announced FIM champion status will be added to the overall winner of the MX1 class at this year’s Penrite ProMX Australian Motocross Championship. Announced on 23 March, the establishment of the ‘FIM Oceania Motocross Championship’ will see this year’s national champion in the ProMX Thor MX1 category also crowned the FIM Oceania Champion for 2022. This only applies to the MX1 class and not MX2, MX3 or MXW. The Australian round of the 2022 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship has finally been locked in, with the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit to host the twelfth and final round of this year’s championship. Scheduled for 18-20 November, almost two years after World Superbikes (WSBK) last raced at Phillip Island, the Australian round will take place just a week after the Indonesian round at Mandalika. A WSBK season finale hasn’t been held in Australia since 1996, which given the end to last year’s championship, could see the title decided at Phillip Island this year. New Zealand’s Hugh Anderson is one of three inductees into the MotoGP Legends Hall of Fame who will finally receive their honours in 2022, more than two years after they were announced. Adding Hugh Anderson, Max Biaggi and Jorge Lorenzo to the roster of MotoGP Legends was scheduled to take place at selected rounds in the 2020 MotoGP season, but with the calendar changes and absence of crowds due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was decided to delay the inductions until it was possible to hold a more traditional MotoGP Legend ceremony – allowing all three the opportunity to celebrate the milestone in the company of family members, friends, and paddock personnel.
