rom the street, there’s something fortress-like about this F large grey house in Booker Bay. Take a step over the threshold, though, and any intimidation is washed away by absolute Zen. In the forecourt, water trickles gently and lush tufts of zoysia grass sport a photoshopped green, begging for a barefoot wander. A cat lounges on the deck, silently passing judgement on anyone without the sense to do the same. “Whatever’s happening out there, you come in here to the quiet and stillness,” says owner Susan Bredow, a journalist who lives in the home with her husband Greg Lomax. “That’s what we wanted. It’s our haven.”
