THE most dramatic race over the course of the November meeting was a match between Dan Skelton’s My Drogo and Henry de Bromhead’s mare, Gin On Lime, in the SSS Super Alloys Novices’ Chase.
Coming off the last bend, Harry Skelton let out an inch of rein on My Drogo. He cruised to the front and, essentially, as a competition the race was over in a couple of strides – it was going to be just a case of how far. But this is jump racing and at the second-last, My Drogo knuckled on landing, sprawled and, because he had impetus behind him, capsized.
