LORRY problems nearly thwarted Claire Smith’s trip to Aswanley, on 3 September, but thanks to a swift diagnosis and some organisational juggling, she and her six-year-old gelding, Furioso De Foja (Neville), arrived in Aberdeenshire at the 11th hour and went on to capture the BE100.
“When I started the lorry in the morning, the warning lights on the dashboard began flashing at me,” explained Claire. “I thought I’d go a little way and see what happened, but didn’t get very far before I rang my recovery service.”
The verdict — via the telephone — was a probable tachograph issue.
