THE main arena at Aachen is famed for its unique atmosphere. However, in such a vast stadium the dressage crowd was somewhat dwarfed on the first day, at 15,000 (pictured, right).
“It did feel quite empty if you were sitting in one of the less full stands,” said one spectator.
But by Sunday (16 August), dressage fans did the sport proud, with spectator figures just 2,000 short of the 40,000 capacity.
In total, 159,000 people attended in the first week, including the dressage, reining, eventing and the opening ceremony.…
