Grounded foundation
Interior designer Fleur Delesalle aspires to one charming objective: to create harmony. In the apartment opposite, large, vivid objects are deployed in big, simple spaces, surrounded by not-quite-whites, neutrals and more restful shades. “Get colours to interact with each other,” she says. “For example, replicate a shade in a rug elsewhere in the room.”
Deliciously eclectic
Pictured right, the home of Emma Morley, founder of interior design practice Trifle, and Simon Goff, owner of rug brand Floor Story, is one big adventure. Each room is its own colourful island, floating unconnected to the space either side of it. “The kitchen was white, but now it's buttermilk, which feels more like a colour you can eat,” says Emma, who suggests beginners “go bold in a small room first”.
