Baddaford Farm Stall, Fort Beaufort
The Kat River Valley in the Eastern Cape is known for its citrus farms and also for the Roberts clan, of which actor Ian Roberts is a member. The first Roberts, a British settler, arrived in South Africa in 1820. In 1903, his descendants found a home on the farm Baddaford.
Crates full of oranges, naartjies, pomelos and lemons are stacked at the door of this farm stall. From May to September they also sell avocados and pecan nuts. The dining room is nice and cool, but it’s outside under the thatched stoep that you can really relax.
