WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE White clover is a low-growing, perennial weed that spreads by seed and creeping stolons. Each leaf is comprised of three oval leaflets marked with a white chevron (above). Rounded clusters of white flowers, measuring ½ to 1½ in., appear in early summer.
WHERE TO FIND IT This non-native weed is most often found growing in soils with poor fertility, including in lawns, along roadsides and in pastures. At one time, white clover was included in lawn seed mixes, as it is useful for fixing nitrogen in the soil.
