The Void pitches bewildered cop Carter (Poole) into a rundown hospital where the end of the world might actually be taking place in the basement. And you thought the NHS had problems. First-time directors Gillespie and Kostanski successfully conjure a bleak, constrictive atmosphere from the off, even if their pacing is a tad too ponderous to really grip. Still, the practical gore effects are nice and icky, and they know their way around a nightmarish image, whether it’s a group of masked figures illuminated…
