In a controversial retrial, Constance Marten and Mark Gordon have been found guilty of gross negligence manslaughter in the death of their newborn daughter. The couple went on the run with baby Victoria in early 2023, and when their car was found that January, the presence of a placenta sparked a seven-week manhunt. Victoria’s body was later discovered in a shopping bag in a shed on an allotment, and she was believed to have died from hypothermia. Marten, 38, declared the jury’s unanimous verdict ‘a sham’, while Gordon yelled, ‘I’m not surprised by the verdict.
