THE FIRST THING to know about the P30, Huawei’s new premium smartphone, is that it isn’t just a smaller version of the P30 Pro. The two have the same processor, the Kirin 980, and both have triple-lens rear cameras, but these are fundamentally different phones.
For a start, the Huawei P30 has a smaller screen, at 6.1in versus 6.5in, although the 2,340x1,080 resolution is the same. It lacks the 5x optical telephoto lens of the P30 Pro, it isn’t as water-resistant, doesn’t have curved screen edges and the battery is smaller (3,450mAh versus 4,200mAh), and it also lacks wireless charging.
