As we enter into the swimming season, the City of Cape Town which manages 36 pools in the metro confirmed that their 2025/2026 preparedness was on track with upgrades and maintenance.
These include pools in Observatory, Langa, Morningstar, Trafalgar, Long Street, Sea Point, Atlantis, Hanover Park, Athlone, Bonteheuwel, Eastridge, Brown’s Farm, Lentegeur, Blue Downs and Monwabisi.
Councillor Francine Higham, mayoral committee member for Community Service and Health, said facilities would be ready for the summer.
“The City’s Recreation and Parks Department is following a structured and phased-in approach to complete maintenance work at pools across the metropole,” said Higham.
She indicated that their department was busy with various stages of the implementation of swimming pool upgrades, repairs and maintenance and pre-season preparedness.
