CUBA Just after lunch on 1 February 2019, a 360,000kg meteor travelling at more than 64,000kmh exploded above western Cuba creating a sonic boom and showering the Viñales Valley in fragments of meteorite. I cycled into the valleys main village later that afternoon on an ebike tour. The talk that evening was of repairing shattered windows, checking on neighbours and the locals who had gone to hunt for the pieces.
