Surrounded by a 1,000-acre deer park created in the 18th century, this celebrated pub with rooms is an established gourmet retreat, with an art collection to match its culinary credentials. There are works dotted around by Damien Hirst, Lucian Freud and Tracey Emin, to name just a few. At the helm is chef and part-owner Stuart Tattersall, who cooks over an open fire in the Elk Room – an atmospheric space with giant antlers hanging above the flames.
