Q My bow is four years old, and the factory bowstrings are still going strong. However, I’ve been told that with modern bows, it’s wise to change out the strings every year or two. A There are no hard-and-fast rules when it comes to replacing bowstrings. It largely depends on how much you shoot, how the bow is designed, and how heavy of an arrow you use.
