IN early January, news broke of a Long-eared Owl roost in South Yorkshire. Up to six birds were present in the gathering, which was very near to a public footpath. The birds were easily seen and very close, giving excellent views.
A number of photographers found out about the site and it was soon overrun, sometimes with groups of 20 or more, with some having travelled from as far as Kent and Portsmouth.
