STONECHAT
Everyone likes Stonechats. Hairy caterpillars munching away, minding their own business, probably don’t look on them quite so favourably, though. To our eyes, however, they are perky, pretty little chats, endearingly perched on the top of a small bush for us to admire. Males (main image), in particular, are very attractive in black, white and bright orange. Females (see inset below) are less bright, but are also pleasing to the eye. Often, both birds will be near each other, appearing as a pair.
