THE GERMANS HAVE proved, over nearly 40 years, that a transverse twin cylinder, shaft drive adventure bike is a very, very good idea. BMW’s formula has resulted in versatile, engaging, practical, riding machines that have been ridden two-up to Africa, transported the weekly shop, delivered commuters to work and provided a very satisfying Sunday afternoon scratch.
But while the merits of the BMW GS mean that it sells in huge numbers, they’ve gradually got bigger and bigger, and more and more sophisticated, which isn’t what everyone wants. A lighter, lower and more accessible transverse twin cylinder, shaft drive adventure bike from Moto Guzzi should be a very good idea.
