Moving with the bigwigs this week. Lucky enough to eavesdrop on the first ever meeting between Lotus Cars CEO Phil Popham and long-time classic Lotus guru Paul Matty, at the latter’s car sales emporium off the M42 at Bromsgrove. It was a genuinely great moment. Backed by the determination of Lotus’s new Chinese owner, Geely, Popham is already bringing awesome clarity of purpose to the whole Lotus project. There’s rapid movement on all fronts – future models, better manufacturing, a revived engineering business, a proper visitors’ centre… Suddenly, no one doubts that Lotus can prosper.
