You have to admire Porsche, for all sorts of reasons, but perhaps none more so than for admitting to its mistakes and righting them without shame or ridicule: the latest Cayman GT4 is the perfect example. For a few years we thought all Porsches would be turbocharged or hybridised – or even both – and that would even apply to its GT-badged models. But no. THE format for the Countryman PHEV Cooper S E is broadly the same as for the Niro PHEV, yet there are differences in detail. The MINI uses a slightly smaller 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol turbo. IF all you need from a car is the ability to carry yourself and a couple of passengers in relative comfort, we’d suggest you consider superminis before rushing out to buy an SUV. These are better on fuel, generally more fun to drive, cheaper to buy and insure, easier to use, and simpler to park. Take the Skoda Fabia, for example. It’s only slightly smaller than the VW T-Cross and it has a similar-sized boot.
