RENAULT has taken the wraps off a new supermini crossover called the Kwid. It’s the production version of a radical two-door SUV concept first revealed at last year’s Auto Expo in Delhi, India.
The Kwid takes styling cues from the latest Twingo, albeit in a tall, slim, more value-focused package. It gets the aggressive Renault family face, curvy side panels and a neat rear end, but there’s no rear wiper and the door locks are exposed, giving away its back-to-basics philosophy. It also has a raised ride height and rugged wheelarch inserts.
Inside, many elements are borrowed from current Dacia cars, including the touchscreen infotainment system, dashboard layout and ventilation controls.
Unfortunately, it’s destined for emerging markets only, and will initially be sold in India, priced from just three Lakhs…
