THANKS to a blistering day two performance, Team England leapt up the leaderboard to scoop a silver medal at this year’s World Championships on Spain’s River Ebro.
In red-hot conditions, the team of Will Raison, James Dent, Matt Godfrey, Sean Ashby, Steve Hemingray and Cameron Hughes fished a brilliant match at a venue where the resident catfish – caught to over 30lb in practice – posed an unusual problem. Authorities ruled that any fish over 5kg would be counted just as 5kg, so competitors focused on the huge head of skimmers, bleak, carassio and pommies.
